La Toya Stevens is no hobby handbag-maker. She holds a B.S. in Fashion Design and Merchandising from North Caroline A & T State University and an Associate of Applied Science in Fashion Design from New York’s prestigious Parsons School of Design.

La Toya worked as a sewer for a private-label handbag designer in Union Square (NYC) for five years before returning to North Carolina to launch Miss Pretty Perfect in 2007. Her pieces sold in such renowned department stores as Henri Bendel, Bloomingdale’s and Fred Segal.

About the Miss Pretty perfect collections..

All the bags in the Miss Pretty Perfect are made of upholstery fabric patchwork and leather combinations. Stitching is done with extra-strong upholstery thread.

Most of the bags in the collection have feminine names with accompanying stories. Closest to La Toya’s heart is the Courtrina, named after La Toya’s mother, who taught her to sew at the tender age of 5. La Toya has been hooked on fashion ever since.

When asked about the vision of MPP, La Toya explained, “Miss Pretty Perfect is a carefree, motivated go-getter who is not easily led. The name represents the independent woman who works hard but seeks balance. Although we don’t live in a perfect world, Miss Pretty Perfect strives to create a positive life for herself and others.”  La Toya hopes to expand the MPP brand to include a line of women’s wear clothing, Spring 2010.
